Most laptop batteries can be used for at least a few years, but not forever. If your battery shows the following prompts, it means that your laptop battery needs to be replaced.

- 2. Abnormal battery indicator: If the battery indicator does not light or keeps flashing, it indicates that there may be a problem with the battery.
- 3. Deterioration in battery performance: If the battery performance is not at an acceptable level, or if the storage capacity drops below the recommended range, the battery needs to be replaced.
- 4. Battery shows "Unknown" status: If the battery test result shows "Unknown", you may need to restart your laptop and check the battery with a power adapter.
- 5. Bulging or deformation of the battery: If the battery is swollen or deformed, in order to protect the hardware, the battery should be stopped and replaced.
- 6. Battery Safe Mode Issues: If you are having trouble trying to enter battery safe mode, you may need to use an HP power adapter and consider battery replacement.
- 7. Expiration of battery life : Once the battery has reached its life expectancy, it should be considered to be replaced for optimal performance and safety.
- 8. Frequent charging: If frequent charging is required, and the battery life is significantly shorter, it may be a sign of battery aging.
- 9. Overheating or swelling: If the battery is overheating or expanding, it could be a sign of a short circuit or damage inside the battery and should be replaced immediately.
- 10. Unstable voltage: If the battery voltage is unstable, it may cause the device to operate abnormally, at which point the battery replacement should be considered.
If you're still unsure, HP offers a battery check tool that gives you a pass/fail rating, letting you know if the battery needs to be replaced.
