Today, HP laptops are one of the best-selling brands, and they last longer than ever before. But the part of a laptop that is most susceptible to wear and tear is the battery.
Here's how to tell if your HP laptop battery is worn out and needs to be replaced.
The first clue to whether your HP laptop battery has a problem is if it no longer lasts as long as it used to. This isn't enough to warrant a replacement, as there are many other factors that can affect the life of a battery (temperature, software used, changes to power saving settings, updated software, etc.).
Fortunately, Windows 10 (and some earlier versions of Windows) provide detailed data about your HP laptop battery. But unless you're an advanced Windows user, accessing this data is a bit complicated.
We recommend a very handy software that gives you easy access to the current status and information about your HP battery data. Note that the software is free. Nir Sofer's BatteryViewInfo, (which works on all Windows versions from Windows 2000 to Windows 10), provides access to the following information:
1. Number of charge/discharge cycles. The average battery has a cycle life of 500-800 times, and the higher the number, the more likely the battery is worn out. If the number is greater than 500, the battery is aged. If it is above 800, the battery may be nearing the end of its life. More than 1,000 times, the battery has reached the end of its life.
2. Observe the full-load capacity and finally the nominal capacity. The greater the gap between the two numbers, the more worn the battery is. If the full-charge capacity is less than the rated capacity, the battery is likely to be worn out. 80%, the battery may be showing signs of wear and need to be replaced.
3. Is it complicated to replace an HP laptop battery? Well, it may not be as complicated as you think, and the tools, parts and information you need may be found at hp-battery.
